IRENE BICKMEIER

Irene Palmerina (Paolucci) Bickmeier, 96, of Bellaire Ohio passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at Continuous Care Center in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Born on October 29, 1928, in Benwood, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sabina (Fabrizio) Paolucci.
Irene dedicated many years of her career as a Secretary at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio, where she was a committed and valued presence. Her work was more than a profession; it was an extension of her deep devotion to her faith and her community.
A devout Catholic, Irene was actively involved with the Catholic Women’s Club and the Catholic Daughters of America. Her commitment to her faith was further expressed through her love of music. She was a proud member of the church choir. Beyond singing, Irene found joy in playing the piano and listening to music.
Irene cherished spending time with her family and friends, often sharing stories, laughter, and love. Her zest for life was evident in her passion for family gatherings, visiting family and traveling, as she explored new places and embraced new experiences with enthusiasm.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bickmeier on December 31, 2004, siblings; Virginia Paolucci, Vincent Paolucci, Bessie Paolucci, Mary Murray, Florence Gianangeli, Ann Peake, and Joe Paolucci.
Survivors include, her children; Michael (Elaine) Bickmeier of Shadyside OH, Nancy Bickmeier of Canonsburg, PA, Paul (Karen) Bickmeier of St. Clairsville OH, Judy (John Bartsch) Waterhouse of Wheeling WV, Joe (Cindy) Bickmeier of Shadyside OH, and Dennis (Erin) Bickmeier of Glen Allen VA, twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren, a brother in law, David Bickmeier of California, a long time family friend, Judy Johnson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Irene remained a dedicated member of St. John’s Catholic Church, where her presence touched many lives. Her spirit of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends will be received on Friday October 24, 2025 at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street Bellaire Ohio from 2-4pm and again from 6-8pm, with vigil service beginning at 7pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday October 25, 2025 from 9-10am. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church at 10am with Father Daniel Heusel as celebrant. Interment to immediately follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire Ohio.
