SCOTT MOORE

Born on January 15, 1957, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Scott was known for his vibrant personality and zest for life. He was an outgoing, kind, and loving individual who cherished his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. Scott approached life with a great sense of humor and a positive attitude that uplifted everyone around him.

Scott graduated from John Marshall High School and furthered his education at Marshall University. In 1979 he married the love of his life, Margaret Shepherd, and they moved to Washington state. He spent most of his life in Washington building a family and career.

Scott dedicated over 30 years to his career as a drywall and steel stud framing commercial construction foreman. A respected member of the Carpenters Union of Western Washington, Local 1144, Scott played a pivotal role in constructing many large commercial buildings in Western Washington. Scott retired in February of 2012.

Outside of his professional life, Scott was an avid outdoorsman. His hobbies included fishing, backcountry and downhill skiing, backpacking, hiking, camping, mountain biking, boating, and traveling. These activities reflected his love for adventure and the great outdoors.

Scott leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Maggie Moore, and his children, Josh Moore and Nikki Harper, along with his son-in-law, Ryan Harper, and grandson, Rhett Lee Harper. His mother, Shirley Bullock, and siblings, Sally (Bob) Byard, Gail (Ernie) Grubb, and Dale (Kelly) Moore, also survive him.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Moore, and his grandparents.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Sunday, November 16, at 11 a.m. at Oglebay Park Resort in the Terrace Room of Wilson Lodge, located at 465 Lodge Dr, Wheeling, WV 26003. Scott’s life was one of profound impact and joy, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
