DAVID “DAVE” SENGEWALT

David Alan “Dave” Sengewalt, 68, Wheeling native, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Wheeling Hospital – WVU.

He was born in Wheeling on February 16, 1957, a son of Sarah “Sally” (Sharp) Sengewalt and the late Robert Sengewalt. Dave was a devout and active member of Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, where he served every week as an usher and would assist in cleaning the church during the week. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent his professional life serving others as a Pharmacy Technician at the former OVMC and East Ohio Regional Hospitals. He was a lifetime member of the P.A.P. Club in Wheeling. A man of simple pleasures, Dave cherished the holidays and enjoyed spending his time meticulously decorating his home. His greatest joy was his family, creating memories that will be cherished by those he leaves behind.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by the love of his life, Debra “Debbie” (Rose) Sengewalt, whom he spent the last 47 years with; three children, Jeffrey (Stacey) Sengewalt, Courtney Sengewalt and Patrick Sengewalt; two brothers, Gary (Dawn) Sengewalt and Ronald “Scott” (Mary Beth) Sengewalt; two grandchildren, Annajean and Jackson; his beloved dog, Gidget and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Monday, November 17, 2025 at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 1400 Eoff St., from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, November 18, at 10 am at Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church with Monsignor Bakos Chidiac officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Dave will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he was profoundly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
