VICTORIA ALLENDER
Victoria Louise Allender, 71, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on November 16, 2025.
Born on September 26, 1954, in Wheeling, WV, she was the daughter of the late Nancy Burkhart Yager and Joseph Burkhart, and beloved step- father Charles Yager.
Surviving is her loving husband of 49 years, David (Big Dave) Allender. Vicki and Dave were inseparable, and he could always make her laugh no matter the circumstance. Her pride and joy were her sons, David (Krenna) Allender and Morgan (Amy) Allender; and her granddaughters Ella, Taya, and Bre. Being their grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and she treasured every moment of the incredible bond she shared with them.
Vicki is also survived by her sister, best friend, and shopping companion Pam Deel; her brother Joe Burkhart (Gina Styles); special relatives Rayne Ann Burkhart, Jim Deel, Steve and Linda Allender; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other friends and relatives whom she loved and adored with all of her heart.
A 1972 graduate of John Marshall High School, Vicki went on to receive her Nursing degree from West Virginia Northern Community College in 1975.
Nursing was not just her profession; it was her calling. She devoted 48 years to caring for others with unwavering compassion, dedication, and commitment. She began her career as a staff nurse at Reynolds Memorial Hospital and went on to serve her community as a nurse through various roles, including: the Marshall County School System, RMH Home Health, the offices of Dr. Trent Mason and Dr. Marcia Haught, Amedisys Hospice, and the Marshall County Health Department. Her care touched countless lives as she approached her work with love and a deep devotion to those she served. She dedicated her life to others through her kindness, service, and selflessness.
The family extends their deepest appreciation for the love and support given to Vicki and Dave over the past two years of her ALS journey.
Friends and family will be received at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville, WV 26041, on Thursday, November 20th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday November 21st at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Eskridge officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall County Public Library, 700 5th Street, Moundsville, WV and WVU ALS Clinic, 1 Stadium Drive Room 500HSS, 3rd Floor Eye Institute, Morgantown, WV 26506.
Vicki’s legacy of love, compassion, and service to the community will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
