JOHN BUNGARD SR.

John Allen Bungard Sr., 75, of Glen Easton, W.Va., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 5, 2025.

He was born November 7, 1950, the son of Floyd and Margaret (Crow) Bungard. John was a Christian, devoted husband, Dad, brother, pap, and a great-grandpap. John was a 1970 graduate of John Marshall High School and he was the Owner and Operator of Bungard’s Auto Parts with over 26 years of dedication and service to his community. He provided employment for many people over the years, most of all his business was a special place for his son John, his nephews Chuck and Smiley, and son-in-law Doug. John was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Fork Ridge and he loved his church family. He also enjoyed wheelin’ and dealin’, farming (special thanks to his son in laws and son, Lucas Christopher, Doug Hudson, and John Bungard Jr., for keeping his farming dream alive), demolition derbies, and had a love for antique cars, riding in parades, and would offer the shirt off his back for anyone who needed it. He was a man who stood on integrity. His handshake was his word.

John is preceded in death by his parents and son Andrew Bungard Sr.

Those lucky enough to have received his endless love are his devoted and loyal wife, Patricia “Patty” Lightner-Bungard of 39 years; children John Bungard Jr. , Lena Auten (David), Andrew Bungard Sr., (Sadie), Brandy Hudson (Doug), Kilie Bungard (Lucas), Andrew (Andy) Bungard Jr., grandchildren; Melaney Bungard, Andrea Sutton (Mike), Lillyann Bungard (Tater), Macie Price, Allie Blake (Michael), Emily Blake (Colton), Haley Blake, Shelbi Lamp (Jeremy), Destinee Auten (Kasey), Barrett Christopher, Bronson Christopher, Kayden Auten. Great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Logan, Paisley, Lincoln, Kasyn, Daxten, Brilynn, Briella, Alina, Amelia, Lincoln, Kylie and Lexie. Siblings Wilbert Bungard (Pam) and Rona Rice along with several special people throughout the years including but not limited to Dave Gandee, Jimmy Kearns, Dave Whetzel Sr., Chuck McCardle Sr., Larry Jenkins, Carlos Brown, Dave Noller, Paul Hill, Joe Frye, Doug and Amber Sayman, George Martin Sr, Tracy Modra, Jennie Wright and Dave Shriner.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. “Casual attire requested,” “Come as you are”, and Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. until time of services at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Don Rush officiating at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1109 2nd St., Moundsville, W.Va. Interment will follow at Bungard Family Cemetery. There will be food and fellowship after the interment at Oak Grove Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
