JOSEPH DOERR JR.
Joseph Jacob Doerr, Jr., a lifelong resident of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, at the Continuous Care Center in Wheeling.
Born on June 15, 1945, in Wheeling, he was 80 years old at the time of his passing.
Joe, an impressive athlete, is a member of the Wheeling Central Catholic Sports Hall of Fame, a member of the 1964 West Liberty State College Championship Baseball Team and played for the Chicago Cubs AA team. His exceptional talent and love for the game will be fondly remembered.
His passion for sports was evident throughout his life, as he avidly supported the Wheeling Catholic Central Knights and the West Liberty Hilltoppers.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elsie (Miller) Doerr, Sr.; his wife of 53 years, Judith Ann Doerr; and his son, Michael “Mikie Joe” Doerr. He is survived by his children, Julie Doerr and Joseph (Danielle) Doerr, both of Wheeling, and his grandchildren, Abigail Doerr and Justin Doerr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon, with Deacon George Smoulder serving as Celebrant at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV.
