LAURA INMAN

Laura Kathryn Inman, 83, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at WVU Wheeling Hospital with her devoted husband and sister by her side.

She was born on December 18, 1941, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Joseph Christopher and Cleda (Weber) Gist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Susan Gist, and her nephew Edward Inman.

Laura was a proud graduate of Wellsburg High School, Class of 1959. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in business from West Virginia University, laying the foundation for a distinguished and influential career in banking and finance. Throughout her professional life, Laura served her community and region with dedication, integrity, and leadership.

She held the positions of Senior Vice President and Director of Progressive Bank and served for several years as both chairperson and vice chairperson of First West Virginia Bancorp. Laura was a valued member of the Boards of Directors for both organizations, contributing her expertise to numerous committees throughout her tenure. She also served on the Board of Directors of the former Wheeling National Bank. Laura ultimately retired as President of the former Wellsburg Banking and Trust Company, concluding a remarkable career marked by professionalism and service. Laura was a lifelong member of Franklin United Methodist Church.

Laura is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Clifford Inman, Jr., at home; her sister, Karen Younkins and husband Terry of Wheeling, WV; her niece, Allison Keller and husband Andy; and two nephews, Joseph Younkins and wife Kerri, Kevin Younkins.

Laura will be remembered for her sharp intellect, steadfast work ethic, and deep commitment to her family and community. Her legacy endures in the institutions she guided and the loved ones who mourn her passing.

A private graveside service will be held at Franklin Cemetery in Wellsburg, WV with the Rev. Nelson Nygongo officiating.
