EUGENE ESTEP
Eugene Charles Estep, born on October 26, 1941, in St. Joseph Settlement, WV. After living a full life he passed away on January 18, 2026, in Wheeling, WV, at the age of 84.
Eugene was known for his faith and work ethic. He was a lifelong supporter and member of St. Francis Xavier and worked over thirty five years in the coal mine. He was fortunate to have his mother Margaret Klug Estep and father Joseph Estep that preceded him in death. And three younger sisters that supported him his whole life. He served his country in the Army as a young man. He came home, and married Linda Glendening Estep and raised five children; Carrie “Debbie” (Ron) Maine; sons, Danny Estep and Dustin (Angie) Estep; daughter, Amanda (Ryan) Brooks.
After his wife passed he was blessed with twenty five years of marriage with Elizabeth “Betty” Gorby Estep, and gained three stepchildren Denise, Bobby, and Diane. He has welcomed over twenty grandchildren and many many great grandchildren into the world.
His life was one of service to God, family, the coal mine, and the land. He never lost his admiration of God’s miracles of nature or the love of a simple life. Pieces of him will go on in this world in all the people’s lives he enriched with his knowledge and generosity. He will be waiting in God’s hands with the ones that went before him, for the loved ones still to come.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
