GAREY WALLACE
Garey Roger Wallace, 66, of Wellsburg, WV, was called by name to rest in eternal peace, Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Garey was born on July 30, 1959, in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Richard Lee Wallace and Maudine Bell (Miller) Wallace.
Garey was a 1978 graduate of Brooke High School. He was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Army with the 463rd Engineer Battalion, 99th ARCOM. He was the devoted preacher and caretaker of Stone Chapel Church on Pierce Run Road. Garey was also the Founding Father of the Stone Chapel Preservation Society.
An accomplished athlete, Garey was the 1976 A.M.A.-A.A.U. Golden Glove Boxing Champion and The Original Toughman Champion in 1980. Garey was a proud member of the BHS varsity wrestling team. He was a long-time and passionate supporter of Brooke County football, basketball, track, wrestling and boxing youth athletics — a true father and leader in Christ.
Garey worked as a union painter out of W.V. District Council 53 of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. He was a member of the NRA and was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, trapping and kaykaking. Garey was an enthuastic member of the O.M.C.B.A., where he bred, trained and hunted Original Mountain Curs.
Guided by his Protestant faith in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Garey was always willing to extend the helping hand to other hard-working families. The memory of Garey’s moral courage and his unwavering, selfless service to God, family, community and his commitment to mentoring the next generation of Fathers and Leaders will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who have been inspired to carry on for the sake of righteousness.
In addition to his parents, Garey was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Michelle (Isenberg) Wallace.
Garey is survived by his four sons, Chad Biggs of Mill Creek, WV, Garey F. Wallace, Cotey R. Wallace, and Hunter A. Wallace, all of Wellsburg, WV; four grandchildren, Lilyana, Rayge, Abel and Ryatt; two siblings, Richard Lee Wallace Jr. and wife Tracey of Wellsburg, WV, and Tammy Mitchell, husband Kevin of Wintersville, OH; two nieces, Summer Minger, husband Robert of Weirton, WV, Sasha Bourne, husband Ray of Canonsburg, PA; and a nephew, Richard Lee Wallace, wife Brandy of Louisville, KY.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV, (304) 737-3551 with Minister Frank Haas officiating.
Garey’s final wish will be honored as he makes his last ride in a Chevy pickup truck, followed directly behind by motorcycles. He will be accompanied by family and friends enroute to Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV. Military Honors will be rendered by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
