MARIANNE WIETHE
Marianne Wiethe, 82, of Wheeling, formerly of Warwood, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at Liza’s Place. Marianne was born June 27, 1943, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of Russell Silk Johnston and Madeline C. Johnson Johnston.
Marianne previously worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wheeling and the Warwood Home for Men. Marianne was a lifelong member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and a devout Catholic. She was a former member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Mother’s Association, Carol Ladies, Women’s Auxiliary of Wheeling Hospital where she volunteered for many years, and Wheeling Women’s Club. Marianne loved spending time with her family and friends and playing games and cards and was a member of the Card Club, and Canasta Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, August C. Wiethe, Sr. and two brothers, Robert S. Johnston and Douglas M. Johnston.
She is survived by her three children, A.C. (Denise) Wiethe of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Julie (Mike) Flatley of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Jacquelyn Wiethe of Lebanon, Tennessee, and three grandchildren, Chase Wiethe of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Rhyanna Wiethe of Fairfax, Virginia, and Paige Flatley of Olmsted Falls, Ohio.
Family and friends will be received Thursday 3-7 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel in Warwood. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi on Friday at 1 p.m. with Father Nye Joseph Wiley as celebrant. Interment will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Toothman Funeral Home is assisting Kepner’s with the arrangements.
Marianne received excellent kind and compassionate care through Valley Hospice and especially at Liza’s Place.
