PALMA SHELDON

Palma Josephine (Socha) Sheldon, 83, born on March 29, 1942, in Crabapple, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2026, joining hands with her mother, Victoria M. (Worwa) Socha, her father, Mike Socha, her loving husband of 55 years, Gregg Sheldon, her daughters, Christina (Sheldon) Rahi and Kimberly Sheldon, and her sister & brother-in-law, Nancy & Charles “Dickie” Wells.

Palma was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She spent many years working diligently at Wesbanco in Wheeling, where she contributed her expertise to the trust department. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family and community.

A graduate of St. Clairsville High School, Palma was a lifelong learner and a cherished member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling. Her faith and community were central to her life, providing her with strength and purpose.

Palma found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time with her family, planting flowers, and enjoying quiet moments on the front porch with the love of her life, Gregg. A lover of nature, she delighted in feeding the birds and caring for all animals that visited her home.

Palma is survived by her son, Mark Sheldon of Wheeling; her son-in-law, Ramsey Rahi; her brother, Mike Socha, and his wife, Joye, of Fallbrook, California; and her granddaughters, Kylie Rahi and her fiance, Cole, and Kayla Rahi. She also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Amedisys Hospice and the ladies with Over the Rainbow for their compassionate care, love, and support during this difficult time.

Palma’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
