BETTY WEITZEL

Betty was a retired secretary for the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department. After her retirement, she continued to give back to her community as a volunteer at Wheeling Hospital.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents, Esther M. (Long) Cunningham and Elzie H. Cunningham; her devoted husband, John W. Weitzel; four brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by her son, John E. (Trina) Weitzel of Triadelphia, WV; her daughters, Sharon “Sherry” (Mark) Magee of Wheeling, WV, and Pamela (William) McCauslen of Granbury, TX; her sister, Armeda (Larry) Wade of Wheeling, WV; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Friday, March 6, 2026, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm.

Friends will then be received from 9 am until time of funeral service at 11 am, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Mount Calvary Cemetery Bishop’s Chapel, 1685 National Road, Wheeling. Following the funeral service, a committal service will be held at the gravesite.
