DENNIS UCHANSKI

Dennis Lee Uchanski, 71, known affectionately to many as Denny, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026. Born on May 29, 1954, in Wheeling.

Denny was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to those who had the privilege to know him.

Throughout his life, Denny demonstrated an unwavering commitment to hard work. His most recent employment was with Ohio County Schools, where he served diligently as a custodian. He earned the respect and admiration of students, faculty, and staff alike for his steadfast work ethic, his unfailing kindness, and his genuine concern for those around him.

A devout Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers fan, Denny was rarely seen without sporting team colors during games. His passion for sports extended to cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates as well. Beyond sports, he found peace and joy in the great outdoors, particularly through his love of fishing and treasured vacation getaways. Denny also held a deep affection for animals, especially his cats who brought him immense happiness throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Victor and Shirley (Hall) Uchanski, and his cherished cat, Victoria. Denny’s memory will be lovingly preserved by his devoted sister, Joyce Falck, and her husband Michael; his dear niece, Victoria Marie Milton; and his best friend, Todd Suponic. Denny also leaves behind his beloved cat, Jazzi, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, located at 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. and again from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service honoring Denny’s life will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Elm Grove Chapel, followed by a private interment at Greenwood Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
