EARL SMITH

Earl was born June 23, 1946, in Parkersburg, WV, son of the late Earl and Mary Virginia (Buskirk) Smith.

He was a retired Commercial Insurance Agent (which he enjoyed very much), a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Vietnam as a 1st Class Petty Officer on the USS Forrestal and USS Valcour AVP-55. Earl graduated from Parkersburg High School class of 1964, he enjoyed trout fishing, golfing, gardening and eagle watching. He was very proud being made an honorary member of the TKE Fraternity. Earl helped and supported the 4-H programs in Wetzel County and Wood County. He was a Methodist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Ann Rader; brother-in-law, Ted Pigott; father-in-law, Burl Philip Buzzard; baby Yocum and baby Powell.

Surviving are his wife, Marsha A. (Buzzard) Smith; children, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” (Rick) Monroe of Walker, WV, James Bryce “Jamie” (Jessica) Smith of Richmond, VA and Robert William “Robbie” (Amanda) Smith of New Martinsville, WV; grandchildren, Chloe Zeppuhar, Jonah Zeppuhar, Clayton “Clay Clay” Smith, Shawn Yocum, James Yocum, Tyler (Sierra) Yocum, Emma (Austin) Sharrer, Sarah Rebekah Powell, Caleb Monroe, Samual Monroe, Izzabella Monroe and Piper Monroe; great grandchildren, Drexel, Tucker, Austin, Abigail, Allison, Ezra, Tobias and baby Monroe coming in July 2026; sisters, Mary Pigott of Belleville, WV, Nancy Gum of Parkersburg, WV, and Judy Jenkins of Pettyville, WV, and several nieces, nephew and cousins.

At Earl’s request there will be no services.
