MARTHA “MUTZIE” BOGETICH

Martha “Mutzie” Bogetich of Wheeling, WV passed away on March 22, 2026. She was born to the late Simo and Marjha Zatazula on November 12, 1923.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leo in 2009, as well as four sisters Sophia Zatazula, Lucille Salatino, Cecilia Barone, and Mildred Zatazula. She is survived by nephews Frederick (Joyce) Barone of The Villages, FL and Michael (Cheryl) Salatino of Wellsburg, WV. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Brandi Barone, Dr. Sam Barone, and Derek Salatino; and great nieces and nephews including Ruby Barone, Anna Barone, and Bailey Salatino.

Martha devoted 39 years of her life to her work as a phone operator at AT&T, where she was known for her commitment and professionalism. She was a cherished member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church in Steubenville, OH, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community.

She and Leo enjoyed 59 years of marriage living a serene life mostly in Bellaire, OH. After Leo passed, she moved back to Wheeling and reconnected with old friends from the phone company at the Clara Welty Apartments. Martha has a generous and kind spirit and her work ethic continued into a lifetime of good habits. Listening to Frank Sinatra and eating chocolates were part of her routine.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Wheeling Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Her family extends a special thank you to the staff of Moundsville Healthcare Center for their excellent care and compassion during her time there. Martha will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
