ROBERT ‘BOB’ CONGELIO
Robert Anthony “Bob” Congelio, a lifelong resident of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on April 19, 1943, Bob was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
A man of unwavering dedication, Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career in law enforcement. Bob was a retired longtime police officer with the Wheeling Police Department and also held the position of Ohio County House Arrest Officer.
Bob was passionate about exercise throughout his life. He was a devoted member of the Howard Long Wellness Center, where he spent countless hours working out and promoting a healthy lifestyle. His enthusiasm extended to sports as well, as he was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers.
His faith was central to his life; he was a devout Catholic and a dedicated parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Bob was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus – Our Lady of Peace Council and took pride in his membership with the Fraternal Order of Police.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Pola (Gajewski) Congelio, and his niece, Michele McClead. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Congelio; his adoring daughter, Jen Congelio (Andrew) Donahue; his sisters, Judy (John) McClead, Toni Farkas, Debbie (George) Hess, Janet (Perry) Wade; his brother, Don (Vicki) Congelio; and his cherished grandson, Zeke Donahue. Several nieces and nephews also hold fond memories of their dear uncle.
