SHIRLEY JOHNSON

Shirley was born on November 1, 1934 in Wellsburg, WV. She was the daughter of the late Milton Wesley Frayer Sr. and Lois Blanche (Barnes) Frayer.

Shirley worked as a secretary at the former Valley Haven Nursing Home and was a devoted member of the Wellsburg Presbyterian Church. She will be fondly remembered for her love of roses and the joy she found in gardening. Shirley also enjoyed bowling with her lady friends at Brooke Lanes, reading novels, camping, and taking cruises with her beloved husband. Her warm spirit, kind heart, and enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures created many cherished memories for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Edward Johnson Sr., and five siblings, Milton Jr., James, Ronald and Arthur Frayer and Marlene Custer.

Shirley is survived by her son, Ed Johnson and his wife, Lori, three grandchildren, Heather, Lance and Eric Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

A Private Family Viewing and Funeral Service was held at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with Pastor Frank Haas, officiating. Private interment followed at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV.

On behalf of the family, we would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Shirley’s caretakers, whom she affectionately referred to as “The Girls.” Your support, help, care, and most of all, the love you showed Shirley meant the world to our family. Your dedication will never be forgotten.
