Harold Joseph “Joe” Thompson, age 95, of Moundsville, WV passed away peacefully at Moundsville Health Care on June 2, 2026 with his family by his side.
He was born May 25, 1931 in Wheeling, WV the son of the late Michael and Mildred Hall Thompson.
Harold was in the Coast Guard and a Merchant Marine and retired from the City of Moundsville Street Department.
Harold loved to go fishing and spending time with family and friends and spoiling his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Sydney (Janie) Thompson, Chester (Patty) Thompson, James, Mike and Steve (Deloris) Thompson: five sisters, Anna Mae (Ron); Katherine (Lowe), Shirley (Steve), Sylvia (Cecil) and Agnus.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Alice D. Thompson; two sons, Joseph (Melanie) Thompson of Hanover, PA and Bucky Thompson of Moundsville; a daughter, Ann Michelle Koyder of Moundsville; four grandchildren, Miranda (Tyler) Koyder of Moundsville; Amber (Billy) Shirley and Kyle (Emily) Thompson all of Hanover, PA, and Dylan Lyons of Moundsville; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Thompson of Ohio; a brother in law, Ron; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
