MICHAEL McCARDLE
Michael Edward McCardle, 73, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at Valley Hospice Liza’s Place, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on May 5, 1953, Mike was the son of the late Ray and Florence McCardle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marie (Beever) McCardle; his son, Steven Russell McCardle; and his brother, Steve McCardle.
He is survived by his sons, Michael McCardle Jr. of Moundsville, Joan Ellen Howard (McCardle) of Buckhannon, Carl McCardle of Wheeling, Joshua (Angie) McCardle of Moundsville, and Micah (Ella) McCardle of Wheeling, along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grand-children.
Mike was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He especially cherished his grandchildren, Micah Jr., Mela and Maverick. Whether taking them fishing, teaching them how to drive, watching fireworks light up the summer sky, exploring flea markets, or enjoying countless summer adventures, Mike created memories that will be treasured forever. He loved the outdoors and found his greatest happiness sharing those experiences with the people he loved most.
For most of his life, Mike worked as a mechanic and was highly respected for his skill in rebuilding transmissions. He took pride in his work and enjoyed solving problems that others could not. Outside of work, he had a lifelong passion for motorcycles. Some of his favorite memories were made riding and racing alongside his son, Micah “Boog,” sharing a bond built on adventure, mutual respect, a love of speed, and the open road.
Mike loved fiercely and protected his family with all his heart. He was known for his quick wit, mischievous sense of humor, and his ability to make people smile. He never missed an opportunity to get a reaction with one of his off-the-wall comments, and his laughter and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Though he will be deeply missed, Mike’s legacy lives on through the stories, lessons, laughter, and love he shared with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a devoted father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, skilled mechanic, loyal friend, and a man who never missed a chance to brighten someone’s day.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. A private family ceremony will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Schuetz Funeral Home.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Valley Hospice and all who provided care, comfort, and support during Mike’s final days.
