WALTER HARTMAN
Walter “Walt” L. Hartman, also known as “Dad”, “Pappy”, “Pops” age 84, of Wheeling, WV, passed away at his farm Wednesday June 17, 2026.
He was born January 14, 1942, in Wheeling, WV son of the late Carl Hartman and Wilda Hercules Hartman Flanegin.
He was a retired mechanic for Ohio Coal; a member of OH #1 Masonic Lodge in Wheeling; auctioneer and former president of WV Auctioneers Association; known as the “tool man” at the market in Follansbee; and was an avid WV Mountaineer fan.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Gloria DiMarco Hartman; son, Walter (Sue) Hartman, Jr. of Wheeling; daughter Paula (Kevin) Sikora of Salida, CO, son Steve (Rachel) Hartman of Fishers, IN; nine grandchildren, Kayleigh Woodfin (Kevin) Smith, Emilee (Tyler Jolly) Woodfin, Kaleigh Sikora, Taylor, Colby, Gabe, Benjamin, Eli, and Caleb Hartman; sister Carla Hartman (Lou) Ronca of FL; two brothers, Brian Flanegin, and Gary Flanegin both of Wheeling; good friends, Tom Wallace and Joe Poch, the “Wednesday Gathering Group”; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved corgi, Andy.
Family will receive friends Monday from 2:00pm until time of service at 4:00pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory 1 Ridgecrest Rd Wheeling/Bethlehem.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
