Erma Watts

Erma O. Watts, 96, of New Martinsville, WV was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

She was born on February 4, 1930, in Pine Grove, WV daughter of the late Jesse F. and Audra M. (Butler) Barr.

Erma was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and of Maison Frederick School of Beauty Culture in Pittsburgh, PA. She was retired from working as a secretary for Wetzel County Schools for twenty-five years at Valley High School and Shortline School. Erma was a member of New Martinsville United Methodist Church where she served in the United Methodist Women as president and loved to sing in the choir. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star – New Martinsville Chapter No. 50. Erma was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of seventy-three years, Donald E. Watts and son-in-law, Kenneth W. Fisher.

Surviving are her two daughters, Donna (Robert) Jones of Paden City and Brenda (Stephen) Rector of New Martinsville; four grandchildren, Marsha (Joseph) Craycraft of Wheeling, Kenneth (Lori) Fisher of Rutherfordton, NC and Brian Jones and Angela (Jordan) Swanberg of Paden City; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kelsey and Lola Fisher, Emma and Sarah Craycraft and Josiah, Autumn and Aspen Swanberg.

Friends received 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the Jarvis Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville. Funeral services at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the New Martinsville United Methodist Church, 10 Howard Jeffers Drive, New Martinsville with Rev. Dr. Jeffery Kanode officiating. Burial to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.
