Joe Rich, Jr. of McMechen, WV passed away July 25, 2026 of terminal cancer. He was born on November 1, 1949 in Glen Dale, WV, a son of Joseph and Rose Rich, Sr.
Joe was a 1968 graduate of Union High School. For 37 years, Joe was a dedicated coalminer at Console Coal after honorably serving in the US Navy. He loved his sports cars, hunting and spending time with his children.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lee Rich; son Mike (Danielle) Rich; daughter, Luvina (Brian) Workman; sister, Carolyn (Ralph) McCullough; brother, Mike A. Rich; step-daughters, Laurie (Jason) Rector and Anita (Mike) Krupinski; grandchildren: Hudson and Memphis Workman, Tyler, Logan and Hannah Rich, Dominic and Miranda Rector and Braden and Caylee Krupinski.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00, noon, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, WV. Interment will immediately follow the funeral at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, National Road, Wheeling, WV with full military honors.
