Joseph J. Kostelecsky, 74, of Sherrard, WV, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, June 19, 2026 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Joseph was born on December 23, 1951 in Wheeling, WV, to the late Joseph J. Kostelecsky, Sr. and Mary Alice (Storm) Kostelecsky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Mary Jo (Tim) Holloway, Rose (Dick) Battista and Martha (Bill) Tucker.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carolyn (Custer) Kostelecsky; step-daughter, Shellee Porter Persinger; granddaughter Allyasa Persinger; sisters, Jane Ellen (Steve) Randolph of Inwood, WV and Brenda (Bernie) Doyle of Moundsville, WV; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jerry Stephens.
Joseph attended John Marshall High School and became a coal miner with Consol Energy and retired after 30 years of service. He attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
A private Celebration of Life for Joseph will be held by his family.
