Joseph "Jody" Shields Nelson, Jr., 73, of Wheeling, WV, died Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born November 16, 1952, son of the late Joseph Nelson, Sr. and Phyllis Long Nelson.
Jody was a member of the Moundsville Cruisers, loved watching Nascar, attending car shows and enjoyed racing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan Jo Nelson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda Trudo Nelson; twin sister, Phyllis (Dave) Toto; brother, Ken Nelson; nephews, Jimmy Rinaldi, Bryan (Vanessa) Toto, Brent (Sasha) Toto, Ben (Kenna) Lando, Zach (Gabi) Lando and Alex Lando; nieces, Molly (Ben) Bodi and Ashley Nelson; sister-in-law, Jodi Lando; and brother-in-law, Tim Trudo.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 2 PM – 6 PM and again, Friday, July 31, 2026 from 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM with Pastor Mike Palmer officiating at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311).
Interment to follow in Park View Memorial Gardens.
