Katherine Elizabeth (Tolarchyk) Prettyman, 84, formerly of Wheeling WV, passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2026.
She was born January 21, 1942 in Wheeling, daughter of the late John J. and Frances Goldie (Reilly) Tolarchyk.
Katherine graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Wheeling and she attended Our Lady of Peace Parish in Mt. Olivet, WV. Her and her husband, Joe owned A&J Corner Market at 75 Indiana St. on Wheeling Island for over four decades.
She was a loving wife, grandmother and friend to so many. She was committed to helping others including caring for her husband in his final years. Although family was always important, her grandchildren were her passion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Prettyman and 2 brothers, Frank and John Jr.
Katherine is survived by her son, Otis (Manda) Prettyman; daughter, Beth Ann (Thomas) Seamon; grandchildren, Joseph, Kennedy, Zachary, Kristina, Otis, Quinton, Zenobia, Kyle and Cole; 2 sisters, Goldie Shriver and Charlotte Werfele.
Friends will be received Sunday August 9, 2026 from 3-6 PM at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2311), where services will be held on Monday August 10, 2026 at 11 AM.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
