MICHAEL ORUM

Michael "Mike" Donald Orum, 63, died in his sleep, August 13, 2026, a devout member and saint within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was born April 3, 1963, in Wheeling, son of the late James E. and Carolyn J. Rhodes Orum.

Mike served his country in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1998. He was pleased to have trained soldiers for service in Iraq and proud to have earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He said, "I learned there is 'no I in team'. That phrase helped me understand we have to work together to ensure we all progress in this world."

After discharge from the Army, Mike turned to assisting the needy in his community. He said he thus learned how to serve and to improve the lives of others in civilian life. Mike felt these activities opened doors for his spiritual life. He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

April 4, 2020, Mike fell from his truck and damaged his upper spinal cord. His service became making Christ present to all he met through his love and joy, whatever his circumstances.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael; a brother, Gary; and his sister, Sherry.

Mike leaves behind his precious wife, Donna; his beloved brother, James; and several cousins and friends.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311), where services will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11 a.m.
