Raymond Eugene Van Kirk, Sr., 92, of Wheeling, passed away on Sunday August 9, 2026.
He was born on July 29, 1934 in Washington, PA son of the late, Earl H. and Myrtle M. (Dunkel) Van Kirk Sr. Ray was a Eagle Scout, Scout Master and Veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the rifle team at WVU, a Protestant by faith and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn (Riggle) Van Kirk; a grandson, Derick Kuhn; a daughter in law, Tina Marie VanKirk and great- grandson Arloh Gates.
Ray is survived by his children, Raymond Van Kirk Jr, of Melbourne, Fl, Michael A. (Shay) Van Kirk, of Charlotte, NC, Kimberly (John) Gunsorek, of Adena, OH, Gegit (Steve) Gates, of Wheeling; grandchildren, Annette R. Van Kirk, Sarah (Joe) Forest, Kevin (Callista) Van Kirk, Brittany (Casey) Neal, Ashley (Josh) Berka, Scott Gates, Valerie Gates and 9 great-grand- children.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ryan Parsons officiating at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV, 26003. (304-242-2311).
Interment will follow in Park View Memorial Gardens.
