Ronald Paul Stewart, 88, of Wheeling, WV passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at home.
He was born August 17, 1938 in Wheeling, son of the late Robert & Mildred Brieding Stewart.
Ronald served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1964, as a Lance Corporal. He proudly earned the Rifle Expert badge. He was one of the original founders of the WATCH program and the group homes for the handicapped in Wheeling. Ron was an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting since the age of 7, and was known as "The Legend".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elsie Naples; his brother, Bob Stewart; and sister-in-law, Alice.
Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years, Celia Stewart; his children, Brent (Kile) Stewart and their children, Charlotte and Max, Kim Stewart (Rick Eakin), and Brad (Pam Ceccarelli) Stewart, and their children, Devin, Cole, Talon, Jaxon, Amanda, and Corey.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling (304-242-2311), with Pastor Clarence Creer officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
