Betty J. McCarty, age 86, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Friday September 25, 2026 at Liza's Place.
She was born December 23, 1939, in Wheeling, WV, to the late James and Anna Rafa Schlick, Sr.
She was a proofreader and teller for Half Dollar Bank and an accounting clerk for Easterseals. She was a member of Thursday Music Club; a graduate of Wheeling High School class of 1957; and was blessed with a first class family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Polanski; brother, James "Sonny" Schlick, Jr.; sister-in-law, Patricia Schlick; and brothers-in-law, James Reddy, and Raymond Polanski.
Survivors include her beloved sons Timothy McCarty of Tiffin, OH, and Terry (Rachel) McCarty of Canton, GA; brother, Tom Schlick of Wheeling, WV; three sisters, Eleanor Reddy of Wheeling, WV, Katy (Curt) Oliver of Wheeling, WV, Carrie Sacco of Wheeling, WV; numerous nieces; nephews; great nieces; and great nephews.
She leaves behind countless fond memories of friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory 1 Ridgecrest Rd Wheeling/Bethlehem where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am.
Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
