Gladys Eilene Dobbs, affectionately known as Eilene, 95, of Moundsville, WV, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at her home.
She was born September 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Barney and Rena (Blake) Crow. Eilene devoted her life to being a homemaker, creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. Her gentle spirit was complemented by her love for playing the guitar. In her later years, Eilene found great joy in embroidering blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each stitch reflecting her deep love and care.
A dedicated member of the Ash Ave Church of God, Eilene’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and offering solace throughout her years. She taught Sunday School for several years and found a calling for volunteerism at the church, giving her time whenever she could.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by nine siblings.
She is survived by her two children, Dwayne Dobbs of Moundsville and Donna (Larry) Conkle of Glen Easton; four grandchildren, Greg (Heidi) Dobbs, Sherry Norris, Larry (Amy) Conkle, Jr., and Cassie (J.R.) Downes; eight great-grandchildren, Hunter, Fisher, Zane, Cheyenne, Deacon, Dalton, Kace and Liam and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the care and compassion from Amedisys Hospice and her favorite nurse, Tabitha. They would also like to thank her caregivers who constantly provided support, Becky, Kim, Wilda, Chris and Amanda.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 2-6 pm at CARE Funeral and Cremation, 1500 Second St. and again on Monday, September 14, from 12 pm until time of services at 1 pm at Ash Ave Church of God. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery.
