Herman Edward Borkoski, 88, of Tiltonsville, OH, passed away peacefully, at Valley Hospice, in Steubenville, OH, on Friday, August 28, 2026.
He was born on September 2. 1937, in Adena, OH, to the late Zigmund and Jennie (Martin) Borkoski.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Borkoski, his brother, Eugene Borkoski and two sisters, Carol Ardush and Dorothy Borkoski and his nephew, Randy Borkoski.
Herman graduated from Adena High school and continued his education at Ohio University and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Before going to mortuary school, he taught school at Buchanan Jr High School, in Wintersville, OH, in 1963-1964. The Borkoski Funeral Home in Tiltonsville, was established in September of 1967 and the Borkoski Funeral Home, in Adena, was purchased in 1967. Herman had the honor and privilege of serving both communities for 56 years. Herman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiltonsville, The Holy name Society, Knights of Columbus, YTR Lions Club, where he served as Lion President and other offices. Herman also served on the Board of Directors at the former Citizens Bank, in Martins Ferry, OH, for 25 years. Other memberships included, National Funeral Director's Association, Ohio Funeral Directors and Ohio Embalmers Association.
Herman is survived by his dedicated wife of 65 years, Frances (Montenery) Borkoski; his daughters, Natalie Warnock, Lana (Dana) Brown, Connie (Larry) Deluca and Susan (Dan) Dimmick; his grandchildren, Dana Marie (Nathan) Schall, Brandon and Jonathon Borkoski, Anna (Jonathon) Nichols and Nathan (Ali) Warnock, Morgan Feller and Madison Deluca (Emilo Saldana), Brek (Madison) Dimmick and Brody Dimmick; great-grandchildren, Emerson Schall, Rowan Nichols and Laramei Warnock.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Herman and celebrate his life on Sunday, September 6th, from 12 p.m. until the time of services of 4:30 p.m., at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with The Belmont County Honor Guard and the Warren Township Lions Club. Celebrants include Father William Cross, Reverend Tom Thomas, Reverend Marvin Schooler, Reverend James Agnew and Pastor Jim Monoigioudis.
Frances would like to give special thanks to her daughter Natalie for her special care during Herman's illness, and Lana, Connie and Susan for their assistance.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Valley Hospice for the wonderful care given to Herman.
