Joseph "Joe" Becker passed away on Aug. 29, 2026. He was born on November 20, 1950, a son of the late John Otto and Kitty Bracken Becker.
Joe started school at Wheeling Central Catholic and then finished his high school education at Triadelphia High School. Joe attended West Liberty State College, where he partied his way out before graduating from Coppin State University, Baltimore, MD, class of 1977, with a degree in special education.
Surviving are a daughter, Lora, a pharmacist, her husband David, and two beautiful grandchildren, Rachel and Daniel Joseph. Also surviving are his nephews, Karl (Laurie) Becker of Pensacola, FL, and his son Julian Becker of New York, Justin (Chama) Becker of Thailand; several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends from all across the country and some residing in the Greater Wheeling Area.
Friends will be received on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, 26003. Services will be held at the Bishop's Chapel, Mount Cavalry Cemetery, 1685 National Road, Wheeling, WV, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, friends and family will be received from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Devin Ames officiating.
Joe, by nature, was not a joiner of clubs or groups. However, he independently did good deeds for mankind, animals, and our planet. Joe stated that he did not want to join any organization with standards so low that they would allow him to be a member.
