Mary Kathryn "Mary K." Britt, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, WV. Born on December 15, 1935, in Wheeling, she lived a good life of 90 years, characterized by faith, devotion, and unwavering love for her family and community.
Mary K. was known for her dedication and hard work in her professional life. She began her career at the First National Bank of Elm Grove. Later, she served as the Outpatient Processing Supervisor in the Lab at Wheeling Hospital.
Her deep faith guided her throughout her life. As an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Mary K. volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and money counter. She was also a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Altar Society, where she found joy in helping with their renowned fish fry events over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank H. and Mary Elizabeth Kammer Klug; her first husband, Cyril M. Koval; two infant sisters; four brothers, Brother Francis Klug S.M., Donald Klug, Jack Klug, and James Klug; and her stepson, Donald Britt. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her surviving loved ones, including her devoted husband, Donald R. Britt; her beloved son, Matthew Koval and his wife, Susan; and her treasured granddaughter, Lydia Kathryn, of whom she was immensely proud. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Sue Gallaher, her husband, Bob, and Pamela Ackerman; as well as her niece, Mary Beth Greenwood, and her nephews, Fred, Jeff, Michael, and Chuck Klug.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mary K.'s life during visitation on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV, with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 7 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
