Sandra Jean Andy, born on September 8, 1942, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 83, at the Forest Hill Care Center in St. Clairsville, OH.
Sandra dedicated many years of her life to serving as a Secretary for Ohio County Schools in Wheeling, WV, where she was known for her diligence and commitment. While at Wheeling Park High School she worked with her husband, Coach Samual "Sam" J. Andy, who served as the WPHS Boys' Basketball Coach from 1976 until his retirement in 2006. Sandy was the true lifeblood of the program by volunteering her time to wash practice and game uniforms, making legendary scrapbooks for each and every player, organizing amazing end of year banquets and serving as de facto parent/confidante to many of the athletes. Sandy's heart, kindness and smile lite up the "Palace on the Hill" each home game and was also a source of comfort when playing on the road. Together, Sandy and Sam, made the Wheeling Park Basketball program known on a state, regional and national level.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Evelyn R. (Ruth) Arnett and Richard Price Arnett; her devoted husband, Sam Andy; and her sister, Sherry Sloan.
Sandra leaves behind cherished memories with her surviving family: her sister, Shirley Kaib; her sister-in-law, Darlene Gillingham; her nephew, John Gillingham, and his wife Karen; and her nephew, Chuck Gillingham.
The family would like to thank the care team at Forest Hills for their devotion to Sandra's welbeing.
Arrangements by Care Funeral Home & Cremations Specialist St. Clairsville, OH. In accordance with her family's wishes, services will be held privately at their convenience. Sandra will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
