Sara Lee Linn (Wilcher) passed away in Dallas, Texas on September 15. She was 92 years old. She was born in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Herbert and Freddie Wilcher.
Sara graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston in 1951 and was a proud member of the 7UP Club with her lifelong friends Ruby Jolliffe (Truman), Ida Branford (Snead), and Eileen and Rosemary Wherle. She worked for the West Virginia State Road Commission and C&P Telephone before getting married in July of 1959 in Charleston.
After moving to the Washington, DC Area in 1971, she returned to work and became a personal shopper for the Hecht Company in McLean, VA. She transitioned to different departments as her selling prowess grew. At one point she was told she sold more per square foot than anyone else within the May Company. She went on to manage Casual Corner stores in New Jersey and Washington, DC. She retired from The Hecht Company in 1989 and moved to Naples, Florida where she and her husband, Nick enjoyed and made many great friends in the community, and her faith community, First Presbyterian Church of Naples, Florida.
In January of 2026 she and her husband relocated to Dallas, Texas to be closer to family. She loved to dance, to joke, and to laugh. She took great pride in keeping her home immaculate and displayed boundless energy in that pursuit. She is dearly loved and will be missed greatly by her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Charles A. (Nick) Linn, III of Wheeling, WV and three children and their spouses Beth and Dan Neumann of Atlanta, GA, Charles A. (Nick) and Gretchen Linn, IV of Dallas, TX and Amy and Peter Doherty of McLean, VA. She also has 7 grandchildren Jack Neumann, Grace Neumann, Sara Louise Linn, Charles (Cal) A. Linn V, Alice Linn Doherty, Addie Appell and Marc Mitchell, and Wilton Alexander Doherty and 3 great grandchildren (Camden, June and Jolene Mitchell).
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her younger siblings, Johnny Wilcher and Mary Lisk.
Family and friends will be received for a memorial gathering on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 10 am until time of services at 12 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling. Inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
