Sarah Jane Chambers Mayles, 89, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, September 12, 2026, peacefully at home.
She was born April 17, 1937, in Cameron, WV, daughter of the late Harry and Gail Norris Chambers.
Sarah enjoyed spending time with family and friends, walking and bike riding, and sharing gifts at holidays. She loved to sew, both professionally and for family and friends, and her creativity and commitment to quality were appreciated by everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Edward Mayles; sister, Susan Bess Chambers; and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by Harry James Mayles, Sr.; five children, Harry James Mayles, Jr., Duane (Judy) Mayles, Tim Mayles, Doug Mayles and Gale (Mitchell) Staples; four grandchildren, Jacob Mayles and Sarah, Russel and Oliver Staples; brother, Earl (Phyllis) Chambers; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 from 6 – 8 PM at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave., Wheeling (304-277-2722). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Parish, 1518 Warwood Ave., Wheeling (304-277-2911), with Father Joseph Wiley as celebrant.
