Sarah Louise “Sally” Sengewalt, a beloved homemaker and cherished member of the Wheeling community, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on June 18, 1936, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Sally spent her entire life in the town she loved, surrounded by family and friends.
Her faith was a guiding light, and she was known for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Catherine Sharp; her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Sengewalt; her son, David Sengewalt; her brothers, Francis Sharp and John Sharp; and her sisters, Carole Huttlemeyer, Cathy Howard, and Mary M. Yoho.
Sally is survived by her sons, Gary (Dawn) Sengewalt of Wheeling, WV, and Ronald “Scott” (Mary Beth) Sengewalt of Benwood, WV; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Sengewalt of Wheeling, WV; and her sister-in-law, Martha “Pinky” Sharp of Boynton Beach, FL. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Jeff (Stacey) Sengewalt of Wheeling, WV, Patrick Sengewalt of Wheeling, WV, Ryan (Jordan) Sengewalt of Wheeling, WV, Andrea (Jason) Koehler of Pittsburgh, PA, Courtney (Michael Silket) Sengewalt of Wheeling, WV, and Erica Sengewalt of Muse, PA. Sally was also blessed with great-grandchildren Madalyn Dawn Koehler, Caden James Sengewalt, Grayson Joseph Sengewalt, Annajean Lucas, and Jackson Lucas.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church on Tuesday the 29th of September at 11am. Inurnment will follow the memorial mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, honoring Sally’s lifelong commitment to her faith and community.
Sally’s gentle spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
