Thomas Joseph "Poodle" Schell, 63, of Glen Dale, passed away, Friday, September 4, 2026 in WVU Ruby Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
He was born November 13, 1962 in Parkersburg, WV; the son of Holly Reich Schell and the late Thomas G. Schell.
Tom was an employee in the Physical Therapy Department at Reynolds Memorial Hospital for 43 years and worked the fisheries in Bethel, Alaska for 2 years; graduated from John Marshall High School; was an original member of the Glen Dale Park Boys of the 1980's; loved golfing, fishing, and all sports, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins; and was an organ and tissue donor for CORE.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary Schell, Cy and Dorothy Reich; two uncles, Chris and Ed Reich.
Survivors include his mother, Holly; his pride and joy, daughter, Holli McDiffitt, DVM, and her husband, Anthony; one sister, Beez and her partner, Stephanie Cramblet; one grandson, Ridge; his beloved fur baby, Bucket; and scattered throughout the country are his aunts, Oril, Noreen, and Dorothy, uncles, Bill, Francis, Pete, Fred, Paul, and Tim; many cousins.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Physical Therapy Department co- workers for their years of friendship with Tom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Tom's name.
There will be no planned services as Tom would say that he's already been allowed to "take me home, country roads, to the place I belong, West Virginia"
