EORH Offers Women’s Health Care Services

DR. KARAM O'KARMA

MARTINS FERRY — East Ohio Regional Hospital currently does not offer oncology treatment services for breast cancer, but it does have women’s health services to help screen for the disease and many others.

Regular checkups of one’s breasts by a primary care physician or obstetrician/gynecologist is recommended by scientists to help catch the disease at an early stage. These clinical checkups by a doctor, coupled with one’s own self-exams at home, can be beneficial in noticing a lump or a change in one’s breasts.

East Ohio Regional Hospital, located at 90 N. Fourth St., Martins Ferry, has two OB/GYN doctors on staff — Dr. Karam O’Karma and Dr. Robert Wetzel.

O’Karma is board certified and an American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology fellow. She is also a member of the American Osteopathic Association and Ohio Osteopathic Medical Association, according to EORH.

“At EORH, we provide high-quality health care to meet the needs of women at any age. We pride ourselves on providing the latest services and procedures to ensure a better quality of life,” she said.

Wetzel also is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and has more than 20 years of experience.

Along with clinical and self checkups, scientists also recommend annual mammograms of breasts to see if there are any changes or abnormalities in one’s breast tissue. EORH offers radiology and nuclear medicine services.

“Radiology services at East Ohio Regional Hospital offer a complete range of modern radiology techniques used to diagnose illness and injury. Our services include diagnostic X-ray, CAT scanning, ultrasound, nuclear medicine scans, MRI and the latest 3D mammography. We also provide a variety of state-of-the-art interventional radiology treatments,” according to the hospital’s website.

Starting at $2.99/week.
