Polish Festival Begins With Sunday Mass
WEIRTON — Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in Weirton will celebrated its annual Polish Fest from noon-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds in Weirton. The festivities will begin with a Mass at noon. Music for the Mass will be provided by Tom Zielinsky on his accordian.
After the Mass, musical entertainment will be provided by Zielinsky until 4 p.m. when the Honky Tonk Express Band arrives from Cleveland, Ohio to take the stage until 8 p.m.
Traditional Polish cuisine including cabbage rolls, haluski, kielbasa and pierogie will be available after Mass. Roast beef, hot dogs and baked goods also will be sold. For the young and young-at-heart, there will be carnival games, funnel cakes, popcorn and sno-cones.
Raffle tickets are available at the church office or from any parishioner at a cost of $10 each, with prizes of $2,000, $1,000 and two at $500. The winning tickets will be drawn at 8 p.m.
