Good Shepherd and Absolute Therapy Team Up to Meet Residents’ Therapy Needs

WHEELING — Good Shepherd Nursing Home has introduced a new component to its in-house therapy programs to enhance health and healing for its residents. Good Shepherd Administrator Donald R. Kirsch announced that Wheeling’s only five-star nursing home and rehab facility has contracted with highly respected Absolute Rehabilitation and Consulting of Ohio to work with its own staff of healthcare professionals. This interdisciplinary approach is designed to provide aggressive, comprehensive therapy programs.

Cindy Gensamer, Absolute rehabilitation vice president, said geriatric rehabilitation requires a deep understanding of the aging process.

“We adhere to strong clinical procedures and techniques, with the goal of returning patients to their highest levels of functioning,” she said.

“Our therapists focus on improving patient quality of life through rehabilitation, compensation and adaptation.”

Good Shepherd residents can expect direct, timely communication from the therapists to the facility staff to ensure they are evaluated and treated promptly,” Gensamer said.

“Our clinicians assist long-term care residents to maintain independence and assist with meeting regulatory requirements.

“This includes designing programs that address specific needs of both residents and the facility.”

Good Shepherd has long offered in-house physical, speech and occupational therapy to its residents to help them maintain independence and address specific health needs.

“I am extremely pleased with the addition of Absolute Therapy to our outstanding team of caregivers,” Kirsch said.

“Absolute’s philosophy and its resident-driven mission is in total conformity with the philosophy and mission of Good Shepherd.”
