Keep Letter Grades For Ohio Schools

Ohio public education officials are talking about how the state’s “report card” system of rating schools can be improved. No doubt the evaluations can be made better.

But one thing should stay the same. Letter grades, from A-F, are used to rate how well schools are doing in various aspects of the education process. That system should be retained.

A public opinion poll on the subject revealed recently that 91% of respondents like the letter-grading system. No wonder. It is similar to how students are evaluated and it is easy to understand.

Letting parents know how schools are doing is a key facet of the “report card” system. Use of A-F grades makes that perfectly clear.
