Opening Your Home to a Child
Being a foster parent is no easy task. But witnessing what is happening to children who must be taken from their parents for many reasons — including the drug abuse epidemic — is not easy, either.
More foster families are needed in Monroe County, county commissioners were told last week. Job and Family Services Director Jeanette Schwall explained 11 children are in her agency’s custody, but there are just four foster homes in the county.
Some of the children are being cared for in other areas, including Coshocton and Cambridge.
Nearly 13,800 people live in Monroe County. Are there no more than four families among them willing to help children in great need?
We think there are. If you believe your family can provide a foster home, call the JFS office at 740-472-1602. Please, do it soon.
