NAACP Chapter Is a Timely Idea

For many years, Belmont County had a chapter of the NAACP, which may be the stellar organization defending the rights of minorities. About seven years ago, membership in the local unit had dwindled to the point it had to be closed.

Now, St. Clairsville resident Bill Brooks wants to revive the chapter. He already has 10 people interested in participating. A total of 50 are needed to reopen the unit.

Now is an appropriate time for Belmont County residents to rejuvenate the NAACP chapter. That is obvious.

As Brooks points out, the NAACP has a tradition of using non-violent methods to battle for the rights of minorities. “It has always been about reconciliation and bringing different races together,” he noted.

That is precisely what is needed, not just here but throughout the nation. We hope Brooks succeeds. If you are interested, call him at 740-312-9363 or contact him via Facebook.
