Renew Tax Levy For Memorial Park
Memorial Park in St. Clairsville has been an attractive recreation venue for decades, in large measure because its board has recognized the importance of keeping it nice. Doing that requires support from the public.
That backing is being sought again as park officials ask Richland Township and St. Clairsville voters to renew a property tax levy for five years. The levy brings in about $360,000 a year.
It is instructive to look at what the park board plans to do with the money. Some improvements will be made — but maintaining what is already at the park takes precedence. Among plans are replacement of a water line and the aged fence around the swimming pool and tennis courts.
Because park officials have a responsible plan to keep Memorial Park in good condition and make a few improvements, we encourage voters to approve levy renewal.
