Nutcracker Village Changes Prudent

1 min read

Many activities to which area residents look forward all year had to be canceled this summer and fall, because of COVID-19. With the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons coming up, more difficult decisions will have to be made.

Organizers of the annual Nutcracker Village in Steubenville were right to decide their show should go on, however.

Featuring scores of life-sized "nutcrackers," the event has grown rapidly in both size and popularity during the past few years. It has become something of a Christmas-season staple for children and grownups alike.

Some changes will be made this year. For one, there will be no Steubenville Lights Up kickoff event. Crowds the size and density of those in past years would not be wise.

A few other changes have been made to the Nutcrack Village itself -- but for the most part, it will be similar to previous years. The very nature of the event, with the "nutcrackers" outside, should make it safe.

Nutcracker Village is slated to open Nov. 26 -- bringing welcome brightness and joy to residents of our area.
