It is especially true this year: We all need a little Christmas. What is different for the 2020 holiday season is that we need some safe festivities.
Oglebay Park's Winter Festival of Lights is especially attractive in that regard. And this weekend, another perennial favorite -- Nutcracker Village in Steubenville -- is back for the season.
Nutcracker Village features 183 life-sized imaginary figures that are a delight for both adults and children. They can be viewed 24 hours a day, and the village includes several additional attractions and events.
Because of the need to observe social distancing, the nutcrackers this year are spread out more than usual. They can be found on Fourth and Market streets as well as at Old Fort Steuben.
Many special events have been canceled this year, because of COVID-19. The ability of both the Nutcracker Village and the Festival of Lights to bring a little safe holiday cheer to area residents is, then, very appealing.
