Points to Ponder
* If there’s anything the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us about public education, it’s that remote learning does not work. We renew our call for local counties to get students back in the classroom full-time as soon as possible.
* The state chapter of the American Federation of Teachers and the West Virginia Education Association should think hard before encouraging their members to plan a possible walkout over going back to the classroom during COVID-19. That would only further hurt students.
* It will be interesting to see how much more taxpayers will be asked to spend to clean up the former warehouse property at 19th Street in East Wheeling. If you recall, the city purchased the property last year for $150,000, and it has a value — cleared and remediated — of $400,000. Cleaning the site will cost more than $250,000, of course.
