It's always a great day when we can celebrate our local students achieving great things. Four of them this past week were named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, an outstanding academic accolade.
The group includes John Marshall High School's Nathaniel Flowers, Brooke High School's Logan White, Steubenville Catholic Central's Jack Blake and East Liverpool High School's Aaron White. Only about the top 1% of all high school seniors are named National Merit semifinalists, and of that group, about 7,500 nationwide will earn the distinction of being a National Merit Scholar.
