WVU Medicine continues to put patient care at the forefront in our region. That was evident again on Thursday when officials announced a $20 million capital project at WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale that will see new operating rooms, new procedural rooms and more patient beds.
"This hospital is truly transformational in the level of care that we are providing," hospital CEO Douglass Harrison said. "This project will allow us, from a regional perspective, with five new state-of-the-art operating rooms, to really look at how we utilize operating rooms across the region."
That's great news for patients and their families, as it will provide more options to possibly stay closer to home with a surgery.
Since bringing the hospital into its system about six years ago, WVU Medicine has increased employment there from 300 employees to about 700. The latest investment also will help modernize Reynolds Memorial, which Harrison said has become an integral part of the WVU system.
"I'm very proud to say that Reynolds is doing extremely well financially which allows us to reinvest into projects like this," he said.
That's great news for the facility's future.
